Large amounts of unlicensed medications have been seized by Department of Health authorities during a search of a home in Glengormley.

A man was interviewed by department officers about illegally importing and consequently providing unlicensed impotence medications through the internet.

The 47-year-old was also questioned about other medication offences.

He will now be the subject of a report to the general public Prosecution Service.

The search was performed by the Regulatory Group.

Its senior enforcement office, Peter Moore, said: “It is crucial that we get the message throughout that unlicensed medications can be dangerous.

“These types of products being sold, usually online, have actually undergone no quality control and there can be no guarantee about their security.

“You merely do not understand what you are taking or the conditions these items were made in. More notably, you do not understand the result drugs like this may have on your health.”
